It works well for any fluent reader, from first grade through high school. When I taught this lesson to my Seven, she was easily reading fiction at or higher up a 5th form level, but nonfiction was presenting a special claiming. I knew this strategy would be a nifty summer activity to keep her brain precipitous before she began 2nd grade in the fall.
